Changes comIng to workers comP court?
Judges, attorneys, injured workers, and others are debating the merits of going to a primarily electronic hearing system which has just been proposed by the State of California. The proposal has to go through several administrative steps before it can be adopted. Pros for injured workers include the convenience of being able to phone into hearings. Cons include that their right to have a proper day in court may be effected.
After decades of representing injured workers, this change could dramatically alter how we practice law forever. Could the pandemic be the start of a new system of adjudicating work injury cases?
