Attorney José A. Borrego

Mr. Borrego was raised as a son of farm workers in California's central valley. His upbringing taught him the importance of hard work and being educated as a means of succeeding. Familia Borrego emphasized the importance of culture, language, and the arts, to which he has been a devoted student throughout his life. 

Mr. Borrego studied political science with an emphasis in Chicano studies at UC Davis and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1993. As an undergraduate he served as President of the Latino political tights group, MECHA, was active in Chicano fellowship programs, and became involved in the arts through the student dance company, Danzantes del Alma. He was admitted to McGeorge school of law and served as Co-President of the Latino Law Students Association on campus. As a law student he worked as an intern under then Assembly Member Bustamante and well as for MALDEF, and Legal Services of North California. He received his Juris Doctorate from McGeorge in 1995. Mr. Borrego also went on to study cultural anthropology in a masters program at CSU Sacramento. 

Throughout his legal carrier, Mr. Borrego has worked with several small law firms in the furtherance of workers and immigrant rights and helping the disabled. His professional associations include: The California Applicants' Attorney Association (1998-Present); member of the Sacramento Bar Association (2000-Present); and member of the Sacramento County Bar Worker's Compensation Section (2004-Present). His community service accomplishments are numerous.  He has served as Vice President and President of the Sacramento La Raza lawyers Association ( now Cruz Reynoso Bar) and helped organize the annual Unity Bar Association awards. He is currently a member of the Latino Caucus for injured workers as well as Latinocomp society among many others professional associations. 

Mr. Borrego has been active in the Sacramento arts community throughout his education and legal carrier. As an avid dancer, he helped found the professional dance studio, Raices de Mi Tierra in 1995; he has served on the Board of La Raza Galería Posada; and the Festival de la Familia Entertainment Committee. Mr. Borrego served as chair of the Danzantes Unidos state wide committee and convention in 2001. 

Recently, Mr. Borrego remains involved in the Sacramento legal community as a passionate advocate for the Latino community and boasts a diverse clientele.  He takes pride in offering personalized legal representation where his clients have access to their lawyer and dedicated help in resolving their legal issues.
