It’s Hamilton season in Sacramento and the musical has our city buzzing. The lyrical production portraying how settlers founded our nation highlights an undeniable truth; we have always relied on immigrants to move our country forward. 

Study after study documents that immigrants work at higher rates and make up more than a third of the workforce in some U.S. industries. Their mobility helps local economies meet worker shortages. Immigrant workers help support aging native-born populations by paying into Social Security and Medicare trust funds. Finally, children of immigrants are upwardly mobile, promising future contributions to their families and to the U.S. economy overall.
