Hispanic heritage 2022

It’s Hispanic Heritage month once again. Honoring the contributions of Latinos to our country  includes recognizing the hard work that they do daily.  In the fields, auto shops, warehouses, construction sites and elsewhere, Latinos hold up California’s economy with their labor.

They pay a high price for those efforts.  According to the Department of Industrial Relations, nearly half of all work deaths statewide are Latino, meanwhile the COVID pandemic disproportionately strikes workers of color due to the large numbers who  labor in essential industries and a lack of access to health care. National data shows that Latino households and businesses have born the brunt of the economic downturn.

At the Workers Compensation court daily, their names ring out from the docket; Cortés, Vázquez, Garcia, Rodriguez.....  Injured workers whose surnames relate not only their heritage but their sacrifices for our communities.

In 2022 and historically, Hispanic heritage is a legacy of labor and sacrifice.  We honor their work, and recognize their enormous contributions to our country.

Representing injured workers since 1996.
