Do’s and Don’ts of injury accidents
DO:
Report the accident right away.
Provide basic information to the insurance company, like your name and contact information.
Cooperate with the adjuster's requests for information about the accident.
Stick to the facts and avoid giving opinions about fault or your injuries.
Keep a written record of all conversations with the adjuster; date, time, and content of conversation.
Consult with an attorney before signing/accepting any settlement offers!
DON'T:
Admit fault or apologize for the accident.
Sign any documents without fully understanding their implications.
Discuss your injuries or medical treatment in detail. You are not a doctor and should not make statements you aren’t sure about.
Provide a recorded statement to the adjuster.
Agree to a settlement offer without consulting with an attorney!
