Believe
In my decades as an accident attorney; helping victims receive medical treatment and disability benefits, I have observed a lot about the injury recovery process. One thing that always jumps out at me is a client’s outlook on their future. Is it positive; hopeful? Or are they mentally defeated?
I have seen it over and over again. Two clients with the exact same injury in diagnostic tests and Doctor's reports. The first spirals into depression, loses hope, and that injury becomes a life changing event from which they never truly recover. The second client also feels the stress of pain and recovering, activity limitations, and being off of work. But she holds it together, braves the storm, and eventually returns to her normal life.
Why? What separates these two people with the same injury?
The person who believes they will recover does!
I realize this ridiculously simplified view might be disputed by more learned professionals. I'm no psychiatrist, never wrote a paper in philosophy, and I don't have a medical degree. But in my experience and as simple as it sounds, that's what it all comes down to.
Life gets us all down sooner or later. Your attitude, perseverance, and ability to look forward to better times is a great indicator that you will overcome the tough spots. Believe and it will be so!
